Pam Benton has served as the Pinellas County Schools PreK-12 World Languages Specialist in Pinellas County (St. Pete/Clearwater), Florida since 2015.  Pam began her teaching career in 1989 and has taught Spanish, French, and English in Pinellas and Leon Counties in Florida, at Berlitz Korea in Seoul, Korea and in Nagano City junior highs in Japan along with two years working for the Orange County affiliate of the Florida Education Association in Orlando.

Pam holds a B.A. in Spanish and Education from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, an M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction: Interdisciplinary Studies and an Ed.S in Educational Leadership from National-Louis University in Tampa, Florida. She received National Board Certification in Spanish in 2007. She’s studied at the Universities of Cordoba and Granada in Spain and at the Universidad Nacional de Heredia in Costa Rica.

Pam served as President of the Florida Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese for 4 years and was President of the Florida Foreign Language Association in 2013 and has served in a number of offices in the Pinellas County World Language Teacher’s Association. She currently is serving on the Board of Directors of the Southern Conference on Language Teaching as the representative to the American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages Board of Directors.

Pam’s career is characterized by a constant search for new and interesting ways to help people interact with each other through language and technology. For recreation, she reads, travels and works with the Wheaten Terrier rescue group.
