Ellen Hart is the Instructional Director for the World Language and CTE Teams of the North Carolina Virtual Public School.  
Mrs. Hart has served in education since 1994 both in the classroom as a business and marketing teacher for the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) and as the Lead Technology Teacher for Middle and High Schools for ABSS. She has also taught for Alamance Community College in the business department as an adjunct faculty.
Mrs. Hart served as the NCVPS Distance Learning Advisor for ABSS, prior to coming on board as an educator-on-loan. Her experience in distance learning coupled with her vision for supporting students was highly sought by NCVPS. As a distance learning advisor, she championed the development of the ABSS Online Student Support portal and brought together key stakeholders regularly in roundtable discussions about online learning and how ABSS students can be successful.
In her current duties as Instructional Director, she is responsible for teacher retention/recruitment, serving on outreach and partnership teams, managing teacher staff development, and working with other teams to develop and implement online collaboration tools for NCVPS operations.
Mrs. Hart holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Elon College, a Master of Science in Business Education from UNC-Greensboro, and has obtained additional teaching licensure in Marketing. She also earned an Education Administration License at UNC-Wilmington.
She has served as the North Carolina Technology in Education Society (NCTIES) 2008-09 Vice President, 2009-10 President, 2009 Conference Chair, and 2010-2011 Past President.  She also worked with The International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) to establish the Special Interest Group for Virtual Worlds and served as chair for 2010.  In October 2012, she was unanimously elected to the FLANC (Foreign Language Association of North Carolina) board as the Webmaster. She also held the webmaster position for the NCAEA (North Carolina Association for Arts Education) board. 
Mrs. Hart has delivered keynote presentations at the 1st International Symposium on Bilingual Education in Bogota, Colombia, South America (November 2010) and the 2nd Annual Cabarrus County Summer Technology Camp (August 2009).
